According to his high school head coach, Kevin Macdonald, Rappleyea has always wanted to be a part of Penn State.

Initially, Michigan Wolverines made their offer on Christmas Eve, and Rappleyea committed to Jim Harbaugh on January 16.

However, the commitment didn’t last long. A little more than two months later, Rappleyea switched to Penn State.

Andrew declared his commitment to James Franklin’s Nittany Lions on April 3, 2022. Rappleyea’s tight end coach, Scott Prince, stated that Andrew wasn’t 100 percent when he committed to Michigan.

The footballer was fond of Michigan, but his relationship with tight ends coach Ty Howle initially drew him to Penn State. Even while he was committed to Michigan, he had his heart set on Penn State.

Andrew is a smooth-moving tight end with some of the greatest route-running and direction change.

At 6-foot-4.5 and around 230 pounds, for his high school, he played both in-line and in the slot, as well as defense.

As a receiver, he is incredibly polished and has a significant mismatch. In addition, the player shows the ability to gain yards after the catch by moving rapidly upfield and running through contact.

1. His Entire Family Has a History of Playing

Andrew comes from a family of sports personalities. His dad Allan Rappleyea played football at Union College from 1985 to 1989.

Similarly, Andrew’s mother, Kirsten Rappleyea, played basketball in Virginia (1984-88) and professionally in France with A.S. Villeurbanne (1988-89).

Not only Rappleyea’s parents but his brother Allan Rappleyea Jr. also played college football for Wake Forest from 2017 to 2021. His uncle went to the same college as Andrew as well.
