Born To Be a Talented Actor: Buddy Duress
Buddy Duress, born on May 21, 1985, was an American actor known for his exceptional talent. He rose to prominence after appearing in the Safdie brothers‘ hit, Heaven Knows What (2014).
Once again, Duress collaborated with Josh and Benny Safdie for the 2017 movie Good Time. Duress starred alongside actor Robert Pattinson and Taliah Webster.
Although the actor’s career was headed in the right direction, it’s no secret that Duress was in and out of jail throughout his life.

Good Time Star Buddy Duress Dead At 38 Due to Drug Problem?
The actor struggled with substance abuse since 2013, when he spent most of his life homeless and on the run from the police.
During this time, the actor was supposed to leave Rikers for an in-patient program and rehab but chose to struggle on the streets.
It’s often speculated that Good Time Star Buddy Duress dead at 38 was due to heavy drug abuse. As per Duress’ brother, he died of cardiac arrest from a drug cocktail in November 2023.
Buddy has been to jail ten times due to drug possession, identity theft, grand larceny, and criminal possession. The actor was arrested for grand larceny in 2019 and returned to Rickers jail.
Duress was also arrested for threatening to burn his mother’s house down while filming crime drama. Likewise, he was taken back to Rikers for criminal possession and Drugs.

He also added, “he lived like a cowboy, and carrying the weight of that kind of life showed his skills and performance in a way which cannot be replicated.”
Cameron Van Hoy said, “He is an extremely talented actor. But he must focus on his acting career instead of hustling on the streets.”
Van Hoy also added, “He was a kind person who was passionate about making films.”
